The fact that it's aired live — and that part of the competition involves strutting your stuff across a very long stage and splayed across HDTVs across the country — makes the pressure even more monumental. These women work all year long in a hyperfocused mentality that involves a lot of time spent running, cycling, lifting, and working with trainers.
