We Tried Ariana Grande's Date-Night Cat Eye, and It Gave Us Wings
Ariana Grande and I might be the same age, but we don't have a lot in common. I can't sing if my life depended on it, have infinitely less money to my name, and will only wear a ponytail as a last resort. But one thing we do share is our love for a good cat eye — I even wrote about my winged-liner addiction here.
So I was excited to try out her most recent date-night look for my weekly Instagram series, Desktop Beauty. Grande was spotted out with fiancé Pete Davidson wearing a bold wing, burgundy lipstick, and space buns. I attempted to re-create her look with a few of my favorite products (minus the space buns). See how I did ahead, and be sure to follow POPSUGAR Beauty on Instagram for more celebrity-inspired looks.
The Inspiration
For this look, I wanted to copy Grande's chunky winged liner and burgundy lipstick.
Eye Shadow
To create a slight rose tint on my eyelids, I used the Beauty by POPSUGAR Twilight Eye Shadow Palette ($42).
Liquid Liner
When it was time to go in for the wing, I reached for Fenty Beauty's Flyliner in Cuz I'm Black ($20). The felt-tip pen created a thick, onyx line that looked exactly like Grande's.
Gel Eyeliner
Grande's eye makeup drama didn't stop at her cat eye — she also smudged out the black liner on her waterline, so I used the Beauty by POPSUGAR Be Relentless in No Regrets ($18).
Blush
I used Laura Mercier Blush Color Infusion in Sangria ($30) to add a natural rosy flush to my cheeks.
Lipstick
To finish off the bold date-night look, I used Beauty by POPSUGAR Satin Matte Lip Color ($12) in Make a Move. The lip color is opaque, goes on creamy, and dries down to a demi-matte texture.
Final Look
Voila! I love how this look turned out and would absolutely wear it again, especially for a date night. I normally only wear top-lash eyeliner, so adding some drama to my waterline was a fun addition. The Beauty by POPSUGAR Satin Matte Lipstick is also comfy enough to wear all day and won't make your lips feel like they're gasping for air. So, now . . . all I need is to call up bae and make some plans for later.
