Urban Decay Is Discontinuing the Naked Palette—and Throwing a Literal Funeral
Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to say our goodbyes to one of the beauty world's most coveted (and best-selling) eyeshadow palettes: the Urban Decay Naked Palette. Yes, you read that correctly: the OG Naked Palette, which has sat comfortably at the top of the beauty world since its launch in 2010, will be discontinued as of today—and the devastation is palpable.
"Saying goodbye to Naked is extremely bittersweet," said Wende Zomnir, founding partner of Urban Decay. "It was a big moment in our history. It's a little painful to leave your past behind, but it's also essential to always evolve. I will forever miss Naked, but we plan to turn the grief into even more greatness. Urban Decay will continue to thrive in Naked's memory and honor—just wait and see."
The 12-shadow palette comes loaded with neutral tones in matte and shimmer finishes and has generated over $1 billion since its inception with over 30 million palettes sold. Urban Decay even released three different iterations following the success of its OG palette over the years, including the Naked 2, Naked 3, and Naked Heat. But, before we officially say goodbye, Urban Decay is giving us one more shot to get our hands on the Naked Palette. You can finally grab one (or two, hell, stock up!) for $27 at Sephora—a major markdown from the original $54, I must add—starting today, August 23.
