These GOT Stars Are So Fit, They All Deserve a Seat on the Iron Throne

Fending off blue-eyed White Walkers and defending your family's honor against the power-hungry in Game of Thrones takes a lot out of you. Not that I know, but I can imagine it requires immense mental toughness and physical strength. Knights, lords, kings and queens, citizens of the Seven Kingdoms — they all exist in a world where you're only as good as your word and, often, you don't live long enough to keep that word. Many times the only way you can cheat death is to learn how to fight with your fists and your sword (just ask Arya).

So, it's no surprise that some of these GOT stars are quite the fitness buffs. Ahead, you'll find Game of Thrones actors and actresses showing off their strength and/or flexibility. Because what's better than standing your ground against your foes? Maybe killer abs.

Sophie-TurnerSansa-Stark.jpg

To prepare for her role as Jean Grey in X-Men, Sophie transformed her diet and exercise routine, which she told Self in 2016 wasn't a regular routine to begin with. Working with celebrity trainer James Farmer, her fitness schedule consisted of workouts like hill sprints, kettlebells, and boxing, and she followed a "low-carb, Paleo-style" eating plan. Sophie worked out for at least an hour six times per week at the time, and she recently told Vogue that she still likes to box.

Kit-HaringtonJon-Snow.jpg

Kit is not active on social media (you know nothing Jon Snow), and even though we can't see what he's up to fitness-wise, he's given plenty of interviews about his workout routines in the past. Men's Health UK recently reported on his training schedule throughout his roles, especially in Pompeii and GOT. Kit revealed that he was "eating all the time: loads of good carbs, like brown rice and sweet potatoes," and his workouts consisted of full-body sessions featuring strength moves like barbell deadlifts and pull-ups.

In case you couldn't already tell from his role as The Mountain, Hafþór is an incredible powerlifter. He currently holds the title of World's Strongest Man, and has championed countless other competitions (multiple times), including Iceland's Strongest Man and Europe's Strongest Man.

Nikolaj-Coster-WaldauJaime-Lannister.jpg

Nikolaj told Men's Health UK that to bulk up for movies, he eats a lot of protein, and that he feels "stronger now than I ever have." Nikolaj put on 20 pounds of muscle for his 2017 film Shot Caller.

Nathalie-EmmanuelMissandei.jpg

Nathalie's trainer recently spoke to Prevention about her workout routine which, spoiler alert, is no joke. She goes to the gym six times a week and does different sessions of boxing, strength training, yoga (she's a major yogi), and cardio circuits. View the full workout plan here.

Jason-MomoaKhal-Drogo.jpg

I mean, let's be real: we all know Jason Momoa has muscles for days (have you seen Aquaman?!). Here are 23 shirtless pictures to prove it. He's into boxing, surfing, and climbing, and he told Men's Health, "When I have to change my body type [for a movie], then we just switch it up. Doing a lot more weights for size; a lot more cardio for definition."
