My New Lipstick Obsession Comes With a Felt-Tip Applicator

I am a shameless over-packer—and my beauty bag (bags, plural, is more accurate) is no exception. It often includes multiple foundations, faux lashes, and at least six different tubes of lipstick. Yes, even if I'm just going away for just a couple of days—I like options, okay? On a recent weekend escape to Miami, however, I challenged myself to keep my products light and less cluttered. I brought exactly one lipstick—Burberry Lip Velvet Crush—and fell for it, hard.

Lip Velvet Crush ($30) comes in 12 shades of reds, berries, and neutrals—aka all you need in a lip wardrobe. I brought Tangerine Red, a perfect bright, poppy red for nights out or when I just felt like dressing up an otherwise casual look.

What struck me most about the lipstick was its applicator: it comes with a rounded felt tip that clicks to dispense juuust the right amount of product for a sheer wash of color. It looks matte and, unlike most liquid matte lipsticks I've tried, feels velvety and moisturizing on the lips. You can easily layer for more of an opaque finish. I also like that Lip Velvet Crush leaves more blurred edges around the lips for a just-ate-a-popsicle-like finish, as opposed to sharp, precise lines.

The fact that I downed three tacos and loaded waffle fries (oozy cheese, meat, the works) from Bodega Taqueria and my red lip stayed put is actually the greatest testament to this lipstick's enduring greatness. If you need even more convincing, all but one of the shades of Lip Velvet Crush are totally sold out on Sephora after having only launched this summer. But, fear not, you can still stock up over on Burberry.com.
