Ivanka Trump Is Shutting Down Her Fashion Brand
Ivanka Trump, senior advisor to her father President Donald Trump, is shuttering her Ivanka Trump fashion brand, The Wall Street Journal is reporting. The move comes more than a year after she formally separated herself from the brand and joined the White House staff. She maintained her ownership interest in it through a trust.
According to WSJ, Ivanka "contemplated the move in recent months as she grew frustrated by the restrictions she placed on the company, IT Collection LLC, to avoid possible conflicts of interest while serving in the White House."
Ivanka said today that she isn’t even sure if she’ll return to retail after serving in the government. “After 17 months in Washington, I do not know when or if I will ever return to the business, but I do know that my focus for the foreseeable future will be the work I am doing here in Washington,” she said, per WSJ. “So making this decision now is the only fair outcome for my team and partners.”
The Ivanka Trump brand was launched in 2014, but as WSJ reported, became a target of boycott by those opposed to her father's policies after the presidential election. Several retailers dropped the brand, including Nordstrom and Hudson’s Bay, after poor sale performance.
