If You Make a Starbucks Run Every Morning, You Need to See These Comparison Photos
We are all for treating ourselves, and some days, you just want to sit down to a delicious, high-calorie meal. That's great — you should! But Instagram user meowmeix posted these comparison photos to illustrate a point about "calorie dense vs. nutrient dense" when choosing your meals.
For breakfast, the photo on the left shows that a morning coffee run to Starbucks can really add up! For just three things, a Venti Mocha Frappuccino (520 calories), one piece of Iced Lemon Pound Cake (470 calories), and a Spicy Chorizo, Monterey Jack & Egg Breakfast Sandwich (500 calories), it's a total of 1,490 calories — a full day's worth in one meal!
Choosing less calorie-dense foods and opting for more nutrient-dense foods will allow you to spread that amount of calories over the course of a day. Here's the example she used:
"Breakfast - Paleo protein pancake + 1/2 cup blueberries
Snack - half a grapefruit + handful of almonds + @foursigmatic lion's mane
Lunch - egg salad jar
Supper - lamb, tomatoes, + purple cauliflower
Dinner -chicken soup
Night snack - dark chocolate + four stigmatic cocoa"
So go ahead and enjoy an indulgent Starbucks run every once in a while! Then the rest of the time, in order to maintain your weight and energy levels, aim to have most of your daily meals look more like the photo on the right.
