From sultry spices to classic cold weather scents (hello, cinnamon!) Mindy Yang, owner of Perfumarie in Soho New York, gave us the rundown on what’s going to be cool for the cold-weather season.
"Your scent activates the emotions and memories for yourself and those around you,” says Yang. "No different than how we need a different lipstick for each occasion, it is important to experiment and cultivate a wardrobe to create more beautiful and empowered moments." Go Green
Green beauty is picking up a lot of steam and all-natural scents seem to be following suit. Yang notes all natural scents must be tried on skin first to determine how the molecules will truly interact the wearer’s unique chemistry. Brands are being more transparent and looking for sustainable sources for more rare, artisanal-made fragrances.
Spicy
Yang recommends looking for things with pink and black peppercorns, light notes of tobacco blossom, oakmoss, and musk to evoke a spicy, sultry feel.
Cold weather classics
With the arrival of cool weather comes the urge to reach for something comforting like amber, incense, leather, woods, and all things earthy.
