Grape Soda Eyeshadow Is Everywhere
This year's Met Gala provided endless beauty inspiration, from extra long exaggerated false lashes on Gigi Hadid and Lady Gaga to ponytails adorned with a million hair accessories like Ashley Graham's and Janelle Monáe's. One trend we kept seeing through out the night was violet purple eyeshadow and, unlike most of the pink carpet, it is actually a look wearable enough to pull off day-to-day. Perhaps we have memes of Kylie and Kendall Jenner to blame, but the specific hue is verrrry reminiscent of grape soda.
Jennifer Lopez led the charge with an eyes-focused beauty look. Her usually luscious and long hair was covered with a dramatic beaded head cap, so all eyes were, well, on her eyes. Makeup artist Scott Barnes created the metallic amethyst smolder to match the stone on her neck.

Lily Collins looked like a modern-day Priscilla Presley in her sky-high bouffant, but it was the vibrant purple shadow that really made this look a standout. Super pigmented and bright, the look was done by Fiona Stiles using Lancome's Color Design 5 Shadow & Liner Palette in Lavender Grace.

Dua Lipa also chose to emphasize her eyes with violet, but instead of using eye shadow opted for graphic glittery liner on her lower lash line and floating on her lids.

Liza Koshy was among the first to walk the carpet and a fast favorite thanks to her experimental beauty look (that wire-wrapped ponytail!). Her Pat McGrath Labs eyeshadow by Sam Visser was not to be missed as well — a smoky eye can read safe, but not when it's bright violet.

Deepika Padukone also hopped on the violet bandwagon last night, wearing exaggerated wing-shaped eyeshadow in an opulent shade of grape. Makeup artist Sandhya Shekar added a little bit of frosty sparkle on the inner corners to complete the look.

Clearly, this royal hue is taking over and letting people embrace more colorful beauty looks. While celebs opted for the bright shade to showcase "camp," who's to say you can tackle a regular 'ol Wednesday with a (soda) pop of plum?
