DVF Is Officially Going Fur-Free

Joining the ranks of Gucci, Michael Kors, and Calvin Klein, Diane Von Furstenberg just became the latest fashion house to announce plans to go fur-free. The brand announced Tuesday that it has partnered with PETA and the Humane Society of the United States in order to put an end to animal exploitation in the fashion industry.

“It’s time for us to make this change and accept responsibility to ensure that we don’t promote killing animals for the sake of fashion," DVF's CEO Sandra Campos wrote in a press release. "We are committed to supporting the shift to a more ethical and sustainable fashion industry by providing the consumer with innovative and sophisticated alternatives."

The brand behind the iconic retro wrap dress will cease production of fur, exotic skins, mohair, and angora in all of its upcoming collections, kicking off its fur-free initiative at the start of 2019. And per the brand, it's DVF's namesake chairwoman who got the ball running.

“I am so excited that technology has provided us a way to feel as glamorous withfaux fur,” DVF chairwoman Diane von Furstenberg said in a press release, adding that the decision to go fur-free is part of a larger-scale project to create a more sustainable fashion industry.
