Although I try my best to stay covered from head to toe, there will always be one person who is even more diligent than me: a dermatologist. So to get the very best sun-protection tips, I reached out to one and found out exactly what she keeps in her beach bag in Summer. Some items of clothing can offer protection from the sun and come with "UPF" protection, which stands for ultraviolet protection factor. Dr. Jaliman suggests looking for a hat with a brim of at least two inches and a UPF of 30 to offer more protection. "Clothing, hats, and other fabrics that protect you from the sun have a UPF rating, which is the measure of the amount of UVA and UVB radiation that enters the fabric and reaches the skin."
