5 Beauty Secrets I Learned From Hailey Baldwin

Hailey Baldwin is famous. Like, 14.7 million-followers-and-fiancée-of-mega-popstar-Justin-Bieber famous. At just 21, Baldwin's modeling resume is far from amateur, having walked in lengthy list shows from Off-White to Moschino and fronted campaigns for the likes of Adidas, Guess, Rag & Bone. And, as one of the most popular It girls on Instagram, Baldwin has pretty much every beauty brand at her beck and call—but there's one she holds near and dear to her heart: Bare Minerals, which she just joined as brand ambassador.

"My mom used to use it all the time. She always had the Loose Foundation Powder in her makeup bag and its something I would always remember seeing her use," Baldwin tells ELLE.com. "So it was really important for me to try to align myself with a brand that I actually support. I loved their 'clean beauty' approach because the products are just accentuating your natural features on your face. They don’t have any harsh chemicals or scent and it’s really nice on the skin. I’m really big on natural-looking makeup and natural beauty, so Bare Minerals was a perfect fit for me."

As I sit across from the model, I can't help but notice Baldwin's sunkissed, luminous natural glow (courtesy of celebrity makeup artist, Nikki DeRoest). Is it the sun peeking through the luxury suite's window? Or does she really just naturally glow like that?

"It's the BarePro Glow Liquid Highlighter—my absolute favorite," she says. "When it comes to putting on makeup, the less steps I can take, the better for me. I love to use this product on my cheeks because it serves as a highlighter and blush at the same time—it’s the best of both worlds."

I think that my wedding look is going to be very natural because that's me.

Baldwin loves to keep her look simple—concealer, lip balm, mascara, etc.—and admits that her wedding day look will be no different. "I think that my wedding look is going to be very natural because that's me," she admits. "I haven’t completely thought about what type of makeup look I really want to do yet, but I’m not one to do too much, nothing too extravagant because I don’t want to have to worry too much about it."

Ahead of Baldwin's official (?) nuptials, ELLE.com asked the model shared a few of her beauty secrets, so we can glow, too.

1. If you can eat a salad, drink a green juice instead.

"Obviously, good skin comes from within so what you're putting in your body really affects how your skin looks. I must say, I’m not the saint of healthy eating. I don’t eat healthy all the time because I’m still 21 and I think I can get away with the less healthy stuff for now [laughs], but I do try to balance things out. I like to eat salads but if I don’t get to eat a salad, I’ll drink a green juice instead because it’s essentially the same thing. Oh, and drinking a lot of water"

2. Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize!

"I'm really big on moisture. I think a lot of people think moisture breaks them out but it’s very important part of your skincare routine. The one I'm always reaching for is from Barbara Sturm, the MC1 Blood Moisturizer. She creates these blood creams where she’ll pull the blood out and put your plasma in the cream. It’s not red, but they split it so it's the plasma from your blood. She takes my blood and stores it, so I’ll do it once and then go back to restock every couple of months. You can never be too young to care about your skin. I don't know, I’m a weirdo and love sci-fi beauty."

3. Applying foundation with your hands.

"After being backstage at shows so much, I saw a lot of makeup artists do this trick where they'll apply foundation in their hands and rub it together, then press the foundation in the skin. It really gives you this natural, fresh-faced look."

4. No extraction facials—ever.

"I don’t do any extraction facials. I don’t think those are very good for you, like I don’t want somebody poking and prodding at my face all the time! If I’m gonna do them, I’m gonna let a dermatologist do it the way they know how to do it. I let Barbara Sturm do facials on my skin, only. I’ve enjoyed the results from her the most. I do the PRP facials or the glow facials because when you leave your skin is literally radiating, so dewy and beautiful."

5. Thin, delicate hair needs A LOT of moisture.

"I give my hair a lot of treatments. I sleep with coconut oil to soften my hair out, doesn't matter the brand, even over the counter. I think it works best for my hair because I have baby thin hair so the more moisture, the better. I do so much bleaching when I highlight it so it needs that moisture barrier. I also use Olaplex Hair Perfector as a treatment.
